Let Your Marks Become Windows

Your creativity is enough. Learn to honor it. Especially if you feel shame with your expression, embarrassed. Flawed. It is okay to to hold dear and private your tentative lines. Your muddy colors, your confusion and composition.

You already know there are those who will harm you. How your heart will shatter, how you’ll pretend you don’t care. What you don’t know is to keep going, to pull from the trash the evidence of your belonging. Pick up your poetry. Read it aloud to yourself. Listen how each word touches the next.

You are not alone when you create.

Build upon this connection. Let your marks become windows, your words the doorway in.
